Local Selection

We pair trusted products with local knowledge to help you grow with confidence.

Every Field Has a Favorite

Not every product belongs in every field. We carefully select the genetics and technologies we offer based on local performance. Then, we combine them with knowledgeable recommendations to help you make the right choice for your acres and your goals.

We personally hand-select our seed based upon performance results in our area. True localization means that AgVenture products are tested numerous years, in multiple tiers, by Corteva Agriscience, AgVenture and McKillip Seeds. When you plant AgVenture products, you can be confident that you have the right products for your field.

Local Conditions

Product selection is based on local soil, weather and growing conditions.

Multi-Year Testing

Seed is tested for multiple years in varying environments before hitting your field.

Custom Cropping Plan

Your AgVenture Yield Specialist (AYS) visits your farm with a custom cropping plan to help your seed reach its maximum potential.

IMPACT™ Trials

We analyze new potential hybrids in real-world environments, including in fields and soil types similar to yours.

Small Plot Replicated Trials

We do national research trials on small plots to pinpoint how hybrids perform down to the county level, or even down to the field level.

Local Strip Trials

We go beyond testing for soil types by analyzing specific tillage practices and how seed performs with other products.

Our Quality Standards

The seed we select is tested well beyond what federal seed law requires. Before a hybrid or variety earns a place in our lineup, we review results from tests run at the local, regional and national level:

Warm germination

The only test required by Federal Seed Law, run in two labs under favorable conditions.

Cold test

Emergence under less-than-ideal, cold soil conditions. Below-average results trigger a second, saturated cold test.

Saturated cold test

Emergence under cold, wet soils, including imbibitional chilling of the seed.

Germination evaluation

Normal, abnormal and dead seed are studied to predict plant vigor and field emergence.

Genetic and trait purity

SNP testing checks for both wanted and unwanted genetic and trait markers.

Conventional hybrid testing

PCR testing screens conventional products for GMO presence.

Up the stress ladder

Every corn product climbs four vigor tests, each imposing more stress than the last.

Stress Level
  1. 1

    Cold Test

Seeds are planted in chilled media and exposed to cold stress, usually 50 °F for 7 days.

  2. 2

    Extended Cold Test

Similar to a regular cold test with a longer duration of cold stress exposure.

  3. 3

    Saturated Cold Test

Water-saturated media increases imbibitional chilling and oxygen deprivation.

  4. 4

    Precision Stress Test

Proprietary seed vigor test used on all corn products. Greater stress level than a normal saturated cold test. More consistent results that better correlate to field performance.

Every corn product is also screened with the Precision Stress Test, a proprietary vigor test that imposes more cold and wet stress than a saturated cold test and correlates more closely with field emergence. Precision Stress Test and field trial results are used to assign the stress emergence ratings you see on our product pages.
